Zionism is a variety of Jewish nationalism that asserts that Jews constitute a nation whose homeland is Israel. Coining Zionism
The term "Zionism" was coined in the 1880s by a secular Jewish author. Initially, Zionism described a movement to invigorate Jewish culture and community. However, after the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe, Zionism became increasingly focused on establishing a Jewish state in Palestine.
